Royal Troon contract

by Mark Rowe

The Hampshire-based security contractor Topher has the contract to provide security for the TV compound and on-site studios for the 2016 Open Championship at Royal Troon, Ayrshire, which runs from July 10 to 17. The event is managed by European Tour productions on behalf of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews.

Topher reports that it was chosen on the strength of its long-standing relationship with European Tours, and its security provision at several other events, particularly at the 2014 Ryder Cup. Topher personnel will be on site at Royal Troon for three weeks spanning The Open, keeping the media compound and studios secure during the build, event and de-rig.

The contract company adds that it will use its newly refurbished and freshly painted double-decker bus, pictured, as a mobile base of operations at Royal Troon, where it will provide a canteen and accommodation for its 15 security officers at the event. Visit www.topherlimited.co.uk.
