Public rental housing

by Mark Rowe

Cheung Hing Electronic Electrical Engineering Co., Ltd., an installer in Hong Kong working with VIVOTEK distributor EverBest Technologies, recently completed a CCTV system for at public rental housing for Kai Tak Development, a huge project planned by the local government in Hong Kong. The customer, Kai Tak Development, requested CCTV to monitor the indoor and outdoor spaces of new public rental housing, including areas such as the entrance, the main door, aisles, stairs, exits and lifts. The system was expected to ensure residents’ security by acquiring environmental information.

A full megapixel video system was installed Cheung Hing; a total of 368 VIVOTEK cameras in six models: 82 FD8136, 45 IP8335H, 143 FD8335H, thirty-four SD8121, nine IP8152, and 55 VS8102 models.

The users can identify persons of interest and vehicle plate numbers in outdoor and indoor spaces under various weather conditions. As for camera features, the mini size of FD8136 is for indoor spaces, such as hallways and corners. The P-iris, WDR Pro, and vandal-proof properties of IP8335H and FD8335H make them for monitoring outdoors, which are often with challenging lighting and involving a range of movements. In particular, P-iris provides contrast, clarity, resolution, and depth of field. Because this type of lens has good depth of field, it can be used to video monitor corridors.

The WDR Pro function enables the device to record scenes in detail, including shadows and highlights. The vandal-proof cameras record images despite public exposure and possible human destruction. The PTZ function of SD8121 allows operators to control the cameras and obtain panoramic views of the car parks. This information can be useful for investigations. The IP8152, with auto iris, can capture images of persons and vehicles entering and exiting the main door as the levels of light differ during daytime and at night. VS8102, which is the video server that helps the user’s analogue camera transferring to digital, offers up to 30 frames per second in D1 resolution. They were installed to all the analogue cameras inside lifts.

Lui Ka Lok, Technical Manager at Cheung Hing Electronic Electrical Engineering Co., Ltd said: “We have been quite satisfied with VIVOTEK products either at the testing stages or after the installation completed.”

And William Ku, Vice President of VIVOTEK’s International Business Division, said: “With the rising demand for living quality, the standard for housing security is increasingly strict. It’s our pleasure to be chosen by Cheung Hing Electronic Electrical Engineering Co., Ltd in this project for residential security. VIVOTEK’s cameras, with high image quality and performance, undoubtedly can meet the client’s need and provide the residents’ with a safe and secured community.”
