Motor museum control panel

by Mark Rowe

Haynes International Motor Museum, the Somerset motor museum, is being protected by a new fire safety system that includes a Kentec fire alarm control panel.

After a recent £5m refurbishment, the museum, at Sparkford, now allows its more than 400 classic cars and motorbikes, dating from 1885 to the present day, to be displayed. The collection includes familiar names such as Austin, MG, and Morris, performance cars such as the Dodge Viper and XJ220, and modern classics such as the Jaguar E Type and AC Cobra.

The upgraded and extended fire and security system, designed and installed by Logiscan Security Systems Ltd., is based on an Apollo XP95 Intelligent Analogue Addressable solution linked to a Kentec Syncro control panel. As well as providing early automatic detection, the fire safety system allows vehicles to be started within the museum without creating unwanted activations.
