by Mark Rowe

In his 20th year as a member of ASIS UK, Vice Chairman Mike Hurst, has achieved his Certified Protection Professional (CPP) at the first attempt.

Mike, pictured, said: “I felt that having a leadership role in ASIS and with so many colleagues and senior security professionals, globally, having achieved CPP, it was about time I got my act together and sat the examination. It was a very tough and thorough test of my security knowledge, especially as a non-practitioner, but it was well worth the effort.”

The exam covers tasks, knowledge, and skills in seven broad domains that have been identified by as the major areas of security management and is considered a “gold standard” certification for security management professionals globally. These are

•Security principles and practices
•Business principles and practices
•Investigations
•Personnel security
•Physical security
•Crisis management
•Information security

Mike is also a member of the ASIS European Advisory Council, the Leadership and Management Practices Council and the ESRM Value Stream. Mike is a director of the London-based security recruiter HJA Fire and Security and the security events directory, AllSecurityEvents.com.
