Kunsthalle Mannheim

by Mark Rowe

Kunsthalle Mannheim is a museum in Germany which contains a major art collection. A networked security system from Bosch covers a total of 3,600 square metres of exhibition and storage space, without, the manufacturer says, interfering with visitors’ encounters with priceless works of art.

The complex, pictured, comprises a building in Art Nouveau style dating from 1907, underground storage rooms, a main building, and the newer Hector Building, completed in 2018. The opening of the Hector also saw a customised security solution installed and integrated by Bosch. A modular alarm system UGM 2040 and around 260 video cameras monitor the interiors besides the open areas around. Fire protection is provided by a fire alarm system spanning 700 detection points. There are 330 speakers in case it should ever be necessary to evacuate visitors and staff. All of the security equipment is controlled by the Building Integration System from Bosch.

Service technicians from Bosch regularly maintain the system.
