Epsom over the Oaks and Derby and jubilee weekend saw G4S Events provide more than 600 employees doing security and safety management at the event. Services included ticket checks and bag searches at the gates across the site, as well as stewarding the crowds once  inside.

More than 3,000 G4S people were at events around the country, over the bank holiday weekend. Epsom marked the first of a series of jubilee festivities secured by G4S across the UK spanning sport, music and the tour of the Olympic Torch in Liverpool and St Helens.

Eric Alexander, Managing Director of G4S Events, said: “The Jubilee celebrations present a fantastic opportunity for Britain to showcase its entertainment, sport and heritage. With any event of this scale, taking place across multiple locations, it is critical that the support and infrastructure is in place to guarantee the security of all involved. The skills and experience of our team mean we can provide the great British public with a safe and enjoyable bank holiday weekend.”

The jubilee saw  an estimated million people witness the Thames pageant alone, with the crowds controlled by more than 7,000 stewards from G4S, 6,000 Met Police officers, security service operatives, helicopters, dog teams and 23 police boats.
