Institute launching Inclusive Security group

by Mark Rowe

The Security Institute is launching its latest Special Interest Group (ISSIG). A virtual launch event for the Inclusive Security group is running on Thursday, July 30, from 5pm to 6pm.

The event will be hosted by the Group’s Co-Chairs, Anna-Liisa Tampuu, pictured, an associate member of the Institute, the Head of Intelligence and Analysis at the London-based security and emergency response consultancy Northcott Global Solutions (NGS); and Lisa Reilly, Executive Director of the Global Interagency Security Forum, a London-based NGO of 100 member organisations.

The launch has some four speakers lined up to share their knowledge and experience from within the security sector:

– Mahbubul Islam CSyP FSyI, Chief Information Security Officer, HM Courts and Tribunal Services; who’s the Director of Cyber Strategy at the Security Institute;
– Laura Haynes, Chair Emeritus, United Nations Women UK;
– Mark Grant, Regional Security Manager, Netflix; and
– Prof Alison Wakefield PhD CSyP FSyI, Chair of the Institute, who recently became Professor of Criminology and Security Studies at the University of West London, moving from the University of Portsmouth.

As organisers say, traditionally security professionals are a relatively homogeneous group, but the population that they serve is not.

Organisers add that the launch, and the ISSIG, will be open to members and non-members of the Security Institute. For more details and to register, visit https://event.bookitbee.com/28453/300720-developing-inclusivity-in-security-sig.
