Hospital contract win

by Mark Rowe

A new three-year contract with University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust has gone to MITIE.

As one of the largest acute hospitals in the UK, the hospital says that it sought a security provider with health sector experience that could also provide car park management.

After a competitive tender, MITIE says that its Total Security Management business gained the contract based on among other things its presence in the Southampton area. Bob Forsyth, pictured, managing director for MITIE’s Total Security Management (TMS), said:
“We’re delighted to be working with University Hospital Southampton to help it create a safe environment for its patients, staff and visitors. I’m sure that we can add real value and bring innovation to the contract through our bespoke training services and it’s really great to see proactivity around raising the awareness of security risk at all levels.”

The contractor says that its TMS business takes a risk-based approach to security services, delivered through one management team to achieve cost and resource efficiencies. The firm adds that it sees the future of security being technology-driven.
