HD CCTV for casino

by Mark Rowe

A casino chain has installed security systems at its new casino in Reading. The company – part of The Rank Group Plc which also owns Mecca – has appointed Amberstone Technology to install high definition network CCTV and intruder alarms to monitor activity on-site.

Andrew Gillies, Managing Director of Amberstone Technology, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed by Grosvenor Casinos to secure its Reading casino. The installation will provide cutting-edge security systems and ensure that employees, customers and money held on site are protected at all times. We’re very much looking forward to continuing our relationship with Grosvenor Casinos.”

Amberstone is providing the Reading Grosvenor G Casino with Avigilon High Definition mega-pixel IP cameras. They provide the high definition, megapixel images. Installed in strategic points around the casino, the CCTV installation will cover all gaming tables, helping to improve visibility and security within the casino at all times. All footage will be recorded to the NiceVision FAST Alpha Silver, IP-based video and audio recording platform, so users can view live videos or search and playback any previously recorded video content on-site or remotely via the internet. The system uses several high volume RAID storage disks for continuous recording and can be fully customised for the casino to choose the desired video and audio quality and recording speed. Other features include real time playback with lip-synched audio in all key locations.

The casino will also have Microtech Galaxy intruder alarms. Operating in accordance with the European Standards EN 50131 and PD 6662, this intruder alarm system is integrated with other systems.

Sean Cunningham, Director of Security at The Rank Group Plc, said: “It has been a pleasure to work with Amberstone. Their partnership approach of establishing the security needs of our casinos and then presenting a solution, means that we are now supported with technologies that complement other security systems within the casino. We are confident that moving forward, we have the best security required to protect our employees and patrons, and reduce shrink caused by incidents of cheating and theft. We are already reviewing security procedures at our 35 UK casinos and look forward to continuing our partnership with Amberstone.”
