The crowd management and security contractors Showsec have been awarded a five-year contract to serve the Harrogate International Centre.
The agreement with the Yorkshire venue is described by the Leicester-based event stewarding company as a significant step forward as Showsec seek to increase their presence in the conference and exhibitions sector.
The company points also to the work by its Yorkshire operation since they were first engaged by HIC to provide security services.
Julian Kumah, Showsec’s Area Manager for Yorkshire, said: “The conference and exhibition marketplace has been identified as a key area of development for the Company, so to be presented with an opportunity like this is a major boost in that respect.
“Whilst we have been working informally with HIC for the past couple of years, winning this long-term contract allows us to plan ahead and develop our services. An important part of that future planning will be engaging more locally-based staff and therefore building closer links with such a high-profile venue in the region.”
The range of conference and exhibition facilities developed at HIC makes it one of the largest of its kind in the region. Those facilities include an auditorium seating 2,000 people, The Royal Hall holding over 1,000 people, the Queen’s Suite which holds 600 and eight halls that offer up to 18,500 square metres of exhibition space.

They are experienced in the many kinds of events we hold here at HIC, so this will ensure our clients get the best levels of service and security possible.”
