Golf club install

by Mark Rowe

A case study of Sand Martins golf club, about a mile from Wokingham in the Home Counties, which decided it was time to upgrade their standard definition analogue CCTV.

With the course being spread across acres, CCTV is paramount to the club’s security and smooth running, something their previous equipment was failing to provide. The club was due a whole new security infrastructure.

Steve Lane of Berkshire-based Lantec Security headed the install, working with the UK’s largest HIKVision distributor, Cardiff-based DVS Ltd. A full HD system was designed and fitted using HIKVision full HD cameras including vandal resistant infra-red domes, bullet cameras and a newly released Lightfighter camera to cover the grounds and inside the club.

The newly released HIKVision ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) was employed in the car park, recording vehicles that enters the compound. The large field of view on the HIKVision’s ANPR product means the camera can also act as an overview camera. Besides security, an auto tracking dome on the 18th hole (pictured) streams live into the club house for the entertainment of their members.

Steve Lane of Lantec Security said: ‘We decided to go for a HIKVision system as the user interface is easy to use. Using HIKVision products also allowed us to provide an end to end solution to cover ANPR, internal/retail security and auto tracking dome which provides the pro shop overview to the first tee and 18th-ninth greens to help with player traffic, along with general security around the clubhouse. The 3MP picture quality is a massive improvement from the original analogue system we removed which will be a great help for any future incidents due to the superior quality reproduced. DVS were very helpful in assisting the design of the Sand Martins security infrastructure and are our preferred supplier as they have the best technical support in the industry, as well as a friendly knowledgeable sales team.”

And Andrew Hall, a PGA professional at Sand Martins and overseer of the install said: “The system is extremely sophisticated and much more user friendly than the previous one. It’s now very quick and easy for me to search for footage. The ability to look from a mobile device is fantastic, extremely useful and the images are very clear, which is so important when I have an issue. Lantec were extremely efficient and professional, carrying out the installation with no disruption whatsoever. As always, nothing was too much trouble for them.”
