Glasgow certificate

by Mark Rowe

Community Safety Glasgow (CSG) is the first organisation in Scotland to be certified under the Surveillance Camera Code of Practice.

The certificate was presented by the Surveillance Camera Commissioner Tony Porter to CSG Head of Security Johann Watson. Tony Porter, a former senior Manchester policeman, commended CSG for being such an early taker of the certification, which, he said highlights the excellent work being delivered by Glasgow.

The certification is carried out against 12 core principles with the core being around transparency and accountability which Glasgow fully demonstrates. The certification will help ensure that the services delivered by CSG Public Space CCTV are to the highest standards to provide safety & reassurance to all the citizens in Glasgow.

Also present at the event were Richard Deacon from the inspectorate SSAIB; and Kalim Uddin, Operations Manager for Community Safety Glasgow. The north London borough of Enfield, which featured in the November print issue of Professional Security magazine, was another pilot CCTV scheme which worked with the SSAIB to bring in the certification.

CSG featured in the April 2015 print issue of Professional Security magazine.
