G-Cloud portal

by Mark Rowe

The newest version of the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) procurement platform again provides public sector access to the cyber security, risk management consultancy and training company Advent IM. The firm reports it’s been part of the UK Government’s G-Cloud portal since its first release.

Advent IM Director, Julia McCarron said, “Our longstanding relationship with the public sector has been consolidated by our availability over several iterations of the G-Cloud platform. The ability to procure cyber security and risk management services quickly and directly has been of great importance to our clients. We are delighted to be listed on G-Cloud 10 and look forward to supporting more public sector bodies with high quality consulting and training.”

Among other firms, the penetration testing and cyber threat detection company Redscan has listed ae its CREST-accredited Penetration Testing and IT Health Checks; as well as ThreatDetect – a 24/7 Cyber Security Operations Centre-as-a-service for threat detection and incident response. Gubi Singh, Chief Operating Officer at Redscan said: “All organisations within the public sector are deeply concerned by cybersecurity threats. They need assurance that their systems are safe and secure, and that vital services are always protected. In the midst of a global cybersecurity skills crisis, in which the public sector can struggle to compete for the best talent, this is neigh impossible without bringing in outside expertise.

“No organisation can afford to sit back and wait for the worst to happen. Taking an offensive and proactive approach to security has become vital for protecting against today’s threats, since modern attackers have become so good at evading perimeter defences. The arrival of G-Cloud 10 coincides with increasingly devastating data breaches and the introduction of tighter regulations, such as the GDPR [general data protection regulation], and buyers may be searching for a more dynamic approach to cybersecurity threats.
