Doors for venue

by Mark Rowe

The Vox Conference Centre has recently opened at Resorts World, a leisure and entertainment centre, eight miles east of central Birmingham. The Vox Conference Centre has five suites and three spacious boardrooms to hold events, from seminars, to conferences with 900 attendees.

ASSA ABLOY Security Doors worked with Overbury, part of the Morgan Sindall Group Plc, to specify doors that would contribute towards hygiene for canteen areas, while satisfying fire and acoustic requirements. Powershield doorsets were supplied, including Steel Personnel Doors. Powershield Fire Doors and Acoustic Doors were also installed into plaster stud walls; the doors were tested and Certifire approved for this wall condition. The doorsets were supplied with a polyester powder coated finish for durability and factory-fitted with ASSA ABLOY hardware.

The Vox involved many elements and suppliers; anything up to 600 people a day were working on site. Hence all aspects of the development had to be delivered on time. ASSA ABLOY reports that it delivered and installed all doorsets to plan.

Alastair Bridgman, Senior Project Manager at Overbury, a fit out and office refurbishment company, said: “ASSA ABLOY Security Doors’ were able to meet all of our criteria, including our critical hygiene requirements for the kitchen area. ASSA ABLOY Security Doors offered the best economical solution, while also being the highest quality solution.

“ASSA ABLOY Security Doors were also able to provide us with invaluable advice regarding security and fire safety throughout the project, thanks to their many years of expertise.”

Andrew Fisher, Area Sales Manager at ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, said: “Every specification had to be made with fire safety and building efficiency in in mind, for what is an extremely high traffic, cutting-edge conference space.

“All of our doors are aesthetically pleasing and offer a professional finish that exudes a high-end feel, in keeping with the Vox Conference Centre’s state-of-the-art facilities. Our Acoustic Doors are designed to resist sound up to 45 decibels, helping to control noise levels for events at the centre.”
