Dogs home patrol

by Mark Rowe

Manchester Dogs Home suffered a fire on September 9 when about 60 dogs died, and more suffered from smoke inhalation and shock. The suspected arson has seen the city respond with donations and good will including a local security contractor, Inquest Canine Detection & Security Ltd.

Dean Porter, Managing Director, is now providing 24-hour security free. He said: “It’s such a tragedy, none of the dogs that died in the fire that night asked to be there and neither did any of the dogs that now require on-going veterinary care. The dogs’ home and the community is dear to me as I remember this place as a child.

“Inquest Canine Detection & Security Limited are honoured to provide free of charge security and GP security dog services to the dog’s home during the demolition and rebuild to ensure this doesn’t happen again.“

Dean and staff are also collecting donations of food, blankets and toys at their offices in Leigh: visit www.inquestk9.co.uk or the Justgiving link at https://www.justgiving.com/dogshome/.
