Complex upgrade

by Mark Rowe

A Huddersfield-based security firm has been appointed by Huddersfield Rugby Union Football Club (HRUFC) to upgrade its security systems across its Lockwood Park Sports and Business Complex.

Sporting groups and 28 businesses are housed across four buildings on the 26 acre complex, south of the Yorkshire town centre. After the RFU club reported multiple issues with their security provider which included system breakdowns, regular false call outs and a four-month period of the alarm not being monitored, HRUFC took Equilibrium Risks’ free security analysis before committing to a new security system. The contract which includes upgrades to both the intruder and fire alarms includes Equilibrium Risks security monitoring service.

Luke Appleby for Equilibrium Risk, pictured, says: “We undertook an in-depth security analysis to identify the potential risks such an open site with multiple tenants and sporting activities faced. Several immediate improvements were identified, along with some longer-term objectives and we are delighted that our recommendations are now being rolled out, not only to protect the premises but also increase staff safety and well-being.”

And General Manager of Huddersfield Rugby Union Football Club Stuart Leach says: “After a series of break-ins and acts of vandalism, which were not being accurately monitored by our previous security provider we decided to take advantage of Equilibrium Risk’s free security analysis in order to identify our weaknesses. Since migrating our security requirements across to Equilibrium Risk we have already seen a significant reduction in the number of false call outs along with our business tenants commenting on the improved ease of setting alarms and securing their offices.”

About Equilibrium Risk

After service in the military, Jason Donaldson and Luke Appleby founded Equilibrium Risk, a security and risk management company, in March 2015, covering cyber security, VIP close protection, confidential waste disposal, CCTV systems and much more. Among their most recent and key projects, the team was approached by the BBC and Sky to provide low-key protection for TV news crews in potentially volatile situations. This involved discreetly integrating themselves with members of the camera crew to provide unobtrusive protection. Visit www.equilibriumrisk.com.
