An unauthorised encampment of around 15 to 20 vehicles in King’s Lynn in Norfolk has moved on. The travellers were on the car park in the Tuesday Market Place.

Travellers arrived at the car park at around 8pm on Wednesday, August 15 for an overnight stop in the town. Police say that officers worked with King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council to find a resolution to the unauthorised encampment.

Section 61 notices to leave were served on behalf of the landowners and the vehicles left within an hour and 15 minutes of the notices being served. All vehicles had left the area by 9.30am on the Thursday.

King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Policing Commander Superintendent Dave Marshall said afterwards: “This incident was dealt with swiftly and efficiently by local officers working in partnership with our colleagues at the council.”
