If you want to see Mike Gillespie like he has never looked before, wait until October 31. For then he is going to ‘Brave the Shave’ in aid of the charity Macmillans by having an all-head shave. Mike of the information security awareness consultancy Advent IM says that he has chosen that day as it’s the fourth anniversary of his mother’s death. He says: “I have many friends and family who have been touched by or been affected by cancer.”
Mike is a member of the editorial board of Professional Security magazine and is pictured right at IFSEC 2016 shaking hands with magazine MD Roy Cooper (who like many others has become more bearded since this picture, due to the pandemic lockdown). As the photo shows, we generally see and pre-pandemic saw Mike speak at Security TWENTY events, with a beard. Hence Brave the Shave; doing something different to raise money for cancer support nurses. Since 2015 some £22m has been raised.
