Big screen for Premier League

by Mark Rowe

Video technology usually used for security control rooms has helped Sean Dyche and his Burnley FC team during the football club’s promotion-winning season in 2015-16 that saw them return to the Premiership.

Equipment was donated by Burnley firm eyevis UK, which provides video display and audio visual products; and is a regular matchday sponsor at Turf Moor. The company donated one of its 57-inch display screens, usually used for control rooms, to help players and coaching staff with video analysis and tactical preparation at the Barnfield Training Centre, formerly known as Gawthorpe. Pictured are left to right: Jason Blake (front centre) with youth team players Tinashe Chakwana (front right) and Scott Wilson and James Clarke looking on with Shawn Young, Academy Lead Performance Analyst.

The system has been used by the first team, who this summer secured their third promotion to the Premier League in seven seasons. And the screen is being used by the club’s Academy, to analyse player performances.

The EYE-LCD-5700-HD screen displays high definition images.

Burnley FC Academy Manager Jason Blake said: “The support of the local community has been key to our success as a club and this generous donation, with its stunning clarity, has been of great assistance to the first team and Academy. Myself, all the coaching staff and the players would like to thank Steve and his team for backing us in this way.”

eyevis UK was formed seven years ago by Burnley man Steve Murphy, a former St Theodore’s High School pupil and Clarets fan, who previously served a five-year technical apprenticeship with Michelin.

He said: “It has been fantastic to watch and support the team this season and we are delighted that they are back in the Premier League. The manager is a keen believer in utilising everything at his disposal to enhance performance by that extra one or two per cent, so if we have helped in that respect in any way we are thrilled.”
