Awards double for VPS

by Mark Rowe

VPS was recognised for its customer care and contribution to standards in the security sector at the IFSEC Security and Fire Excellence Awards. Almost 1,000 industry people gathered at the gala night at the London Park Lane Hilton. The night’s compere, actor James Nesbitt announced the winners. A judging panel included Geoff Tate, Chairman, SSAIB; Richard Jenkins, Chief Executive, National Security Inspectorate (NSI); and Dr Alison Wakefield, chairman of the Security institute.

VPS was shortlisted in a record five categories, including Security Installer of the Year. Up against competing finalists such as Panasonic and (also a strategic partner) G4S, it was their new website portal, VPS Insights, that won the Customer Care Initiative of the Year.

Sophie Goodwin, Property Administrator for law firm Workman LLP, when the portal was launched this year, said: “The new portal is so user friendly. It puts customers’ needs first by delivering the desired information in a quick and simple format. Being able to prioritise reports on the new portal has really helped us pick up the bigger issues and also request additional works from VPS.”

Managing Director of VPS Guardians, Doug Edwards, also won against competition that included the National Security Inspectorate, for Contribution to Standards in the Security Sector, for his initiative in bringing UK property guardian companies together to form a trade body, the PGPA (Property Guardian Providers Association).
