ASB pilot

by Mark Rowe

Gloucestershire Police and Restorative Gloucestershire with Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Borough Councils have launched a new review process for incidents of anti-social behaviour (ASB).

Under the Anti-social Behaviour Case Review, the public can ask partner agencies to collectively review their responses to complaints of anti-social behaviour. The scheme is being piloted in Cheltenham and Tewkesbury by partner agencies such as police, local councils and housing providers and will be trialled for three months between Tuesday June 2 and Monday September 1, before the process is rolled out across the county in October.

Chief Executive of Cheltenham Borough Council, Andrew North said: “Anti-social behaviour often blights peoples lives and it is really important to the borough council and our partners to deal with it effectively. We’re very pleased to be part of this pilot exercise and fully expect to see significant improvements in the way antisocial behaviour is tackled in the town.”

And Becky Beard from Restorative Gloucestershire said: “We understand the impact that acts of anti-social behaviour can have on the lives of those that are a victim of it and we are confident that the Anti-Social Behaviour Case Review will have a positive effect on resolving these issues. The victim should always be at the heart of this process and we are happy to play a prominent role in establishing this pilot scheme over the next three months ahead of its national roll-out in the autumn.”
