2014 Integrity Awards

by Mark Rowe

The anti-corruption pressure group Transparency International (TI) is accepting nominations for its 2014 Integrity Awards. Launched in 2000, the annual awards recognise the courage and determination of individuals and groups taking steps to combat corruption, often at great personal risk.

Past winners come from all walks of life and have included a schoolteacher and a pilot as well as public officials, activists and journalists. Between them they have brought down corrupt politicians, exposed organised crime networks and helped recover millions in stolen assets.

In 2013, awards were presented to Angolan human rights activist Rafael Marques de Morais and Chinese journalist and blogger Luo Changping.

The nominations are judged by a committee of 11 from the anti-corruption movement. Nominations are open to the public and can be submitted until June 1.

This year’s winners will receive their trophies after September. Visit http://www.transparency.org/getinvolved/integrityawards
