Best antivirus apps for mobile security

by msecadm4921

With so much sensitive data now on our smartphones, antivirus apps are essential for mobile security. Simply put, this software is vital because it helps to protect your smartphone or tablet and the personal information stored on it from malware such as corrupted apps. They also usually have anti-theft features such as a device locator. So, here are our top 3 antivirus apps plus some honourable mentions.

1. Best Paid Option: Bitdefender Mobile Security

Bitdefender features arguably the best malware protection that is currently available for smart devices, whilst running smoothly on the vast majority of mobile phones. It boasts this alongside a malicious website blocker, app locks, a built-in VPN, integration with other devices, as well as an array of anti-theft measures. And, at just under £10 per year, it perhaps offers the best value of all the paid options we’ve seen.

2. Most Popular: AVG AntiVirus Free

Offering essential antivirus protection at no cost at all, the AVG app is one of the most popular software options on the market. Whilst it does feature ads, a standard for free options, its security is comprehensive and it includes several anti-theft features such as device location and the ability to wipe a stolen or lost phone. Other privacy settings give users flexibility with their mobile security, making it a great choice for anyone wanting to avoid a subscription.

3. Feature-Heavy: Trend Micro Mobile Security

A top-ranked solution for malware defences, Trend Micro has potentially the best range of mobile security applications. It contains many of the aforementioned antivirus and anti-theft features, as well as Pay Guard banking for enhanced protection whilst shopping and a new app scanner. In addition, it also prevents newly installed apps from accessing other software and, whilst it is pricey, it’s easily justifiable if you’re looking for extra features.

Overall, whatever you pick, you’re sure to significantly boost your mobile security. Some other antivirus apps which will also make your devices safer include:

McAfee

Avast

Norton

Kaspersky Internet Security
