We work with international organisations to promote UK interests and global security, including the EU, NATO, the United Nations, the UN Security Council and the Commonwealth.
The role of Overseas Security Manager:
As Overseas Security Manager, you will implement FCO security strategy and policy to ensure the safety of all staff, documents and equipment in your remit. You will provide policy advice, guidance and support in every aspect of security, from continuity plans, signage and emergency drills to vehicles, access control and CCTV. As the first point of contact for any security queries, you will investigate and report security incidents and breaches. You will also complete travel risk assessments for staff and conduct security clearance for locally employed staff.
Travel will be necessary for those with regional responsibilities and may include visits to fragile environments.
You must be a British Citizen and have been a resident in the UK for two out of the last 10 years prior to your application. You will have, or be able to obtain, security clearance vetting to a high level (Developed Vetting). It’s important that you have significant experience of security management from a police, prison service, military or commercial security company, including protection of physical premises. Along with membership to relevant institutes or bodies, you will have professional security qualifications – for example, Certificate in Security Management, MSc in Risk and Security Management – as well as experience managing large groups of staff.
