About the Foreign & Commonwealth Office:

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) promotes the United Kingdom's interests overseas, supporting our citizens and businesses around the globe. The FCO has a worldwide network of embassies and consulates, employing approximately 14,000 people in over 270 diplomatic offices. We work with international organisations to promote UK interests and global security, including the EU, NATO, the United Nations, the UN Security Council and the Commonwealth.

The role of Overseas Security Manager:

As Overseas Security Manager, you will implement FCO security strategy and policy to ensure the safety of all staff, documents and equipment in your remit. You will provide policy advice, guidance and support in every aspect of security, from continuity plans, signage and emergency drills to vehicles, access control and CCTV. As the first point of contact for any security queries, you will investigate and report security incidents and breaches. You will also complete travel risk assessments for staff and conduct security clearance for locally employed staff.

Travel will be necessary for those with regional responsibilities and may include visits to fragile environments.

About you:

You must be a British Citizen and have been a resident in the UK for two out of the last 10 years prior to your application. You will have, or be able to obtain, security clearance vetting to a high level (Developed Vetting). It’s important that you have significant experience of security management from a police, prison service, military or commercial security company, including protection of physical premises. Along with membership to relevant institutes or bodies, you will have professional security qualifications – for example, Certificate in Security Management, MSc in Risk and Security Management – as well as experience managing large groups of staff.

Closing date for applications: Midnight on Monday 6th August 2018
Interview date: Weeks commencing 17th and 24th September and 1st October 2018

We celebrate diversity and recruit our staff from a broad range of backgrounds so that we benefit from fresh experiences and perspectives.
