Roy's Monthly Gossip

Promotion congratulations

by Mark Rowe

Did you enjoy your Valentine’s Day? Next on the list is Mother’s day, so don’t forget.

Let’s get straight into that gossip and start with Hemant Trivedi, who has been promoted to Vice President and General Manager of ADI EMEA. It’s to be fair a job he has been taking care of a while now. Not many of you will know this but Hemant has been with the company since he left school, he left the company to become an adult student. He took a degree in mechanical engineering, a 2:1 with Honours, but couldn’t stay away; so re-joined in 1991. OK to be fair it wasn’t ADI Global when he started, it was MVD, the distributors that got sold to Gardiner Security who sold to ADI and are now called ADI Global.

Most recently he has served as Regional Business Leader for the UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy and Portugal. Hemant was recognised as the Regional Business Leader of the Year in 2017 and was the first European leader to be inducted into the ADI Hall of Fame.

I rang Hemant and did congratulate him for being promoted into the job that he was doing anyway.

Next up is Ashley Wyton who has left Honeywell to join Comelit as their new Sales Director. Now Ashley started back in 2003 with ADT and has since worked at 360 Vision and Flir. Francesca Boeris, the Managing Director of the company and who has been with Comelit for almost 11 years, told me that she was looking for a sales director to help her manage the business as it’s grown substantially over the years. Welcome Ashley, I am sure you will be just what the company needs.

Dave Watkins has rejoined Y3K who are celebrating 20 years in the industry. Paul Singh tells me to watch out as they are going big this year with more products, more services; so more about that when he will let me release it.

Ifsec have appointed a new Director to run Ifsec, he is Chris Edwards but when I say new, he has actually been with the company for 14 years or so, having been an event director of various events. We have already met and he has great plans for Ifsec so good luck with those Chris. Note the he is pictured with me on this month’s selfie.

Nick Honess at Honeywell has been promoted and is now a terrority sales manager. Looking at Nick’s profile, he has been with the company for almost 12 years and in that time he has been promoted seven times; well done Nick, a success story if ever there was one.

Cathexis has appointed Dan Bishop as UK Business development manager. Dan has been in the industry for 20 years now. I first met Dan when he worked for Pelco but that was back in 2016. He told me: “My current role allows me to be completely agnostic on camera and access control partners, and provide innovative solutions to the security industry.” Never let anyone tell you that Dan is not a salesman through and through.

Mayflex has appointed Tom Filce as Interim Head of Security. Tom has previously led the ‘Security Strategic Accounts’ team and has worked with the larger Mayflex security customers, providing a bespoke account management service for each. Tom has worked for the distributor in a variety of sales related roles since 2000.

CSL have appointed Adam Spain as their new Head of Customer Services. Adam, a customer service specialist, previously worked for British Telecom and EE at their offices in Canary Wharf, London. He has over 12 years of management experience and a track record of developing and leading multi-channel customer service departments across B2B and B2C companies Adam heads CSL’s 35-strong Technical Support Teams across their London, Newbury and Rugby offices.

At 3Xlogic, Alex Buckle has joined as UK business development manager. This follows the company’s launch into the European market last year. Alex will be responsible for building the profile of the company in the UK. After graduating from Sheffield Hallam University, he entered the security industry in 2015 as sales executive for Dedicated Micros. He took up positions with NetVu and Arkessa, before joining Vista in 2017 as its business development manager.

dormakaba is bidding Andy Chapman, Product Sales Division Manager farewell, after 30 years; and has announced that Fiona Adams will be stepping into the role. Two new Territory Sales Representatives have been brought in. Joining the business in 1990 as a Territory Salesperson, Andy Chapman will now be taking a well-deserved retirement. David Stacey, Regional Sales Director at dormakaba, says: “Andy Chapman has consistently delivered superb, experienced-based knowledge for the benefit of his customers and his teams. For many years he has also shared this expertise and supported the GAI Education programme through lecturing, helping to write materials and invigilating at the exams, committing a considerable amount of personal time to the industry.”

An acquisition by Vimpex. As of January 31, the specialist manufacturer of fire evacuation, signalling and building infrastructure products Vimpex Limited has acquired the legal rights and ownership of Sigma Fire and Security and its brands Smart+Guard and Smart+Cage from Evac+Chair International. Managing Director James Jones says: “This important acquisition marks a pivotal moment and an exciting point in our growth.”
