Roy's Monthly Gossip

Now recruiting look-a-likes

by Mark Rowe

That’s summer over isn’t it? I hope you had a great holiday if you were fortunate to have one and let’s be honest not everyone can, so I won’t bore you about mine, and if you follow me on Facebook you will already have seen enough.

Before I left Steve Proctor was in the news, did you see it? As you know I mentioned in last month’s gossip that Gary Harmer was leaving Mayflex to Join HIKVision. He has been replaced so to speak by Steve Proctor. Now you will know that Steve has been in the industry since 1978 where he started at Abel Alarms, a long distant memory for him now of course. Steve is the Director of Sales – Security and I am sure you will join me in wishing him well. Now you may not be aware but Steve is the holder of some seven black belts, no, not the ones to hold up your trousers the ones that are of the kung fu type, actually TaeKwonDo so yep he can hurt you with his little finger, so be nice to him! To be fair he is a very gentle man so I think you will be safe, just remember that when he is selling you some of his Mayflex kit. Looking at Steve’s profile on Linkedin I see he has been endorsed by Stuart Harris who has also moved from NVT.

Yes, Stuart has moved on and joined Axis Communications. Now Stuart is just a boy as he didn’t start in the industry till 1984 also starting with an installer Modern Alarms, ah, the good old days eh. Anyway he is now at Axis. don’t tell him but I once interviewed him for a job at MVD and gave the position to someone else that will remain nameless, that was one of my life’s regrets as it was the wrong decision but never mind he has done well for himself without coming and working with me.

Now let’s drop over to Wales as it seems that DVS are now recruiting look-a-likes! Yes they have appointed Jason Bezuidenhout (pictured) as Area Sales Manager. Does he look like Scott Douglas or what, ok not an exact match I will give you that, but nonetheless. He is looking after Scotland but with a name like that I’m not sure he is Scottish, but I’m sure I will find out as we will be up there in the Hilton Hotel on the September 5, our latest stop in the ST17 events. By the way the guys at DVS are still looking to recruit a few more people so give Scott a call if you are looking for a new challenge. The real Scott not Jason lol.

Maciej Polak has been appointed the new Product Marketing Manager for Tyco Security Products Intrusion brands for the EMEA region.
