RWL acquisition

by Mark Rowe

In case you were unaware RWL Security Solutions is a VAR (value added distributor) of security equipment based in Dublin; they have exhibited at our Security TWENTY roadshows in Ireland.

The company supplies CCTV, intruder, access control and fire safety products as a B2B distributor of security products in Ireland. Rockpool Investments backed the CEO, Brian Honan, who completed a management buyout of RWL SS in December 2018, supported by AIB Bank. A first acquisition was of EZCCTV.com, and the forming of Fortus Group. Some time ago they said they were looking to acquire further security supply chain businesses in the UK and Ireland.

I can tell you that Mark Massie after being very successful at ADI Global is moving to join the group. Now I am not sure what role Mark is picking up but I would suspect it will be at a very high level. Congratulations to both the group for grabbing such a highly successful and well established guy and for Mark for securing a great opportunity.

I am also hearing that Chris Garden and a few of his team have left FLIR, or DvTel as you may know them. Chris is seeking a new opportunity which I am sure won’t take him very long as he has been in the industry for a very long time and is very well established. I am hearing that Rob Turner has joined Silent Sentinel?

I am also told that Norbain have appointed Simon Davies, pictured, as Solution Specialist to liaise and co-ordinate with colleagues, customers and suppliers. Simon says: “As businesses and communities adjust to the impact of Covid-19 the challenges of reopening work and public spaces is clear. On many occasions electronic security solutions have been viewed more of a commodity than a necessity, however as the new normal takes shape it is now developing as a key tool in creating a safer environment for our team members and our customers. Norbain has consistently led the way in championing new technology and innovations and, at a time when we are looking for clarity on how we can all safely and responsibly get back to work, I am delighted to be taking the lead in delivering that message.”

PAC, GDX and 3xLOGIC have a new regional sales manager, Sam Flowers to cover the south of the UK. Sam has over ten years’ experience in the security industry working in the private residential and commercial sectors along with technical surveyor experience. Sam says: “PAC & GDX are very well-known brands within the industry and the launch of 3xLOGIC within Europe offers an exciting challenge. The organisation has a reputation not just for excellent technology and customer support, but also as a great employer, so I am really looking forward to developing my role here. Since joining the team we have of course had COVID-19 to deal with, but I am using the lockdown time wisely to get fully trained up on our solutions and to start engaging with our customers, remotely for now, to understand how we can support them.”

Jason Sullivan, PAC and GDX Sales Manager, says: “Sam’s background in the security industry will be invaluable to us in terms of serving our customers and developing new long-term relationships. He is able to offer different perspectives that I know will be useful for our on-going product development in particular.” And talking of Pac were you aware that Gary Rowden has left Stanley Products where he was vice-president and is looking for that new opportunity. Need his number, give me a call.

AMG Systems, the manufacturer of Ethernet transmission products, has appointed Steve Dunning and Rob Kidd as Regional Sales Managers. Steve will cover the north of England, and Scotland; Rob the south of England, and Ireland. Steve’s previous security industry experience includes systems integration, manufacturing and latterly, sales roles at Pro-Vision and EET Europe.

Looking to make a difference for the NHS is Comelit. Their UK people committed to run, walk and cycle the equivalent miles from its office in Luton to Italian headquarters in Lorenzo di Rovetta. Their challenge is aptly named ‘The Italian Jog”. They hope to raise £1,000 for NHS charities. Francesca Boeris, UK Managing Director, says: “When one of the team said in our briefings, “hang on a minute lads, ‘I’ve got a great idea” I was instantly ready to support, especially for our NHS heroes. This is a big pledge, but one to which we have committed to ensure we can make a difference to the critical work being done to protect lives at this uncertain time.” Comelit is now looking to support workplaces scheduled to return to work, introducing touch screen access control devices with integrated IR scanner for temperature checks, and thermal cameras to help ensure the safety of returning workers and customers. Well done guys.
