Wireless video doorphone

by Mark Rowe

SmartEntry, a wireless video doorphone, is part of the range of SmartHome products available from the distributor Y3K Europe. It allows the user to view visitors at the door before speaking or admitting them. The remote push button release feature enables you to wirelessly open doors and gates if fitted with electronic locks. The setup menu makes for quick and easy installation it is claimed.

YOu install the external door entry unit next to your front door or entry point so the camera can view who calls at your premises. When the bell rings, you can view visitors on the portable wireless handset from anywhere in your home or business, from up to 300 metres away using a 2.4Ghz digital wireless transmission signal. Using the extended range mode, the user can switch to speak-only mode and speak to visitors up to 500m away.

The weatherproof door unit can be mains powered if within or close to a building; or if using in a more remote location, powered by the on-board Li-ion battery. It is fully tamper protected, sounding an alarm to alert the user if an attempt is made to remove or damage it. With a built-in array of infra-red LEDs the unit provides images day and night. It has the option to operate the remote lock release in both fail safe (NO) or fail secure modes (NC).

The handset also uses rechargeable Li-ion batteries and includes a mains powered charging station. It features a 2.5-inch TFT High Resolution LCD screen and a ten-picture visitor memory enabling you to scroll back to see who called while you were out.

The system can be be expanded to include other handsets or entry units, enabling multiple entry points controlled by multiple users as needed on larger sites. You can site the Door Entry Unit up to half a kilometre away from the wireless handset.

SmartEntry is available through Y3K distributors including more than 90 branches of WF Senate.
