Wireless DIY SOS

by msecadm4921

A wireless intruder alarm has made an appearance on BBC’s DIY SOS. The Enforcer alarm from Pyronix was donated to Eric Rivers, a motor neurone disease sufferer, by Dave Robertson the Managing Director of NSI Gold installer Fullstop Fire and Security. The install of the Enforcer was part of the renovations that the DIY SOS team did at Mr Rivers’ home, pictured. The DIY SOS team were called in to make changes to his house so that he and his family might have a more comfortable life. Dave was quoted as saying: “I will remember Eric’s words for a very long time ‘I was falling and all of you have joined hands and caught me’.”

The time constraints involved  posed by the DIY SOS team meant that a quick install of the system was an important factor. The system being wireless meant that the installation was completed in a fraction of the time that it would take for a wired system, according to the installer. The Signal Strength Indicator (SSI) feature  on the Enforcer wireless devices allowed for the correct positioning of all devices, saving time on the install. The inclusion of a portable emergency button was something which Eric and his family were keen to have. As the product can support 19 programmable automation outputs, Eric was able to have this feature programmed into his system using the keyfob that came with the Enforcer kit.

A 24 hour link with an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) also allows Eric to sleep easy at night knowing that should an alarm be triggered, a response will not be far behind.Another feature of the Enforcer, which Fullstop made use of, is that it comes unbranded. This lets installers have their ‘own’ Enforcer system. Everything from the panel to the external sounder and even the detectors can show the installer’s brand, allowing them to have brand consistency. It means that the end user cannot look up and compare prices as the Enforcer product is the installer’s own.

Eric was very appreciative of everyone at the BBC and Fullstop Fire and Security who were involved with the DIY SOS programme. For more information on the DIY SOS programme, visit www.fullstopuk.com.
