Timber and steel doorsets tested

by Mark Rowe

ASSA ABLOY Security Doors has become one of the first companies to offer high security timber and steel doorsets tested to SR4 standard in accordance with Issue 7 of the LPS1175 standard.

The Safeguard timber range includes inward and outward opening, double and single doors that are compliant with LPS1175 SR4 standard. ASSA ABLOY Security Doors says it’ the only manufacturer on the market to offer double leaf timber doors that open inwardly with this certification.

Brian Sofley, Managing Director at ASSA ABLOY Security Doors said: “Reaching SR4 Issue 7 of the LPS1175 standard means we can offer specifiers and building managers the most advanced solution on the market. It is not normally acceptable to have a door opening out into a corridor, so we are pleased that our inward opening timber doorsets offer an aesthetically pleasing solution that can be used to secure internal rooms off corridors.”

Vision panels are available for the certified timber and steel doorsets, allowing visibility and transfer of light, without it is claimed compromising the security of the door. The panels are available in standard single size and as multiple vision panels and, the makers add, assist in meeting the requirements under The Equality Act.

The range of independently tested steel and timber doorsets will be certified for a range of locking options, including electro-mechanical locking, which is said to be suitable for access control requirements.

The makers add that their Powershield steel door range includes outward opening single and double leaf doors with a frame design more suitable for commercial environments.
