Secured by Design for door entry

by Mark Rowe

The door entry and access control products company Videx Security has gained Secured by Design (SBD) accreditation on products for private, commercial and local authority use.

Secured by Design from the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) aims to reduce crime through environmental design. The scheme informs architects and specifiers that products meet police-approved standards. The vandal resistant VR120 range of audio and video door entry panels, for properties with up to 15 flats, comes with optional proximity access control for residents’ door panels.

The VX2200 digital audio or audio-video door entry panels can cater for up to 1000 flats with proximity access. The door entry panels have a telephone style keypad and both audible-visual guidance is given during a call thanks to a back lit LCD display and spoken messages. The Videx FS/DK Stainless Steel Drop Key Fireman Switch is designed to allow access to buildings in an emergency.

Videx door entry and access control products were tested to STS202 BR2 Level of Burglary Resistance, and received Secured By Design approval.
