A system comprising a number of detectors from the BoundaryGard™ range from OPTEX has caught three burglars in the act trying to steal diesel from a floor preparation company’s yard.
Specialist Surface Preparation (SSP) is a leader in floor preparation providing dust-free captive shot blasting, diamond grinding, concrete reduction and planning, and re-texturing. Its depot in Scunthorpe had been targeted on a number of occasions over a few months with diesel and compressors stolen, so the owners approached Dean Bolton, Managing Director of nearby Eyewatch Security, to specify a security system to prevent further break-ins.
Having worked with OPTEX kit for more than a decade, he specified five wireless AX-200TFRi beams to protect the perimeter of thecompound, as well as five BX-80NRi and 10 VX-402Ri detectors sited around the building, as he explains: “Three men jumped over the fence and triggered the AXTFRi beams,” he says. “Our guards were on site in three minutes, warned the burglars and they ran off.
“We set the dog off the lead, chased them and prevented them from getting away. The Police arrived and were very impressed, it led to all three of them being arrested – one was carrying a screwdriver and another had drugs in his pocket. Needless to say, the owner is over the moon that nothing was stolen and his security system is working well!”
