by Mark Rowe

A trade exhibition for the locksmithing and security industry is set to be the biggest yet, say organisers, with four major sponsors and more than 70 exhibitors already signed up.

Running between September 13 and 15 at the International Centre in Telford, MLA Expo is organised by the trade association for locksmithing, the Master Locksmiths Association (MLA). The biennial event sees locksmiths and suppliers meet to exhibit products and services, discuss industry trends and take part in training courses.

This year, the event – which has been running for more than 30 years – will be offering a courses covering topics such as CCTV, safe lock picking and lock related standards, among others. Delegates will also be invited to a party night on the Saturday, September 14, offering visitors the chance to network.

Over 1500 people are expected to attend the three day event, with exhibitors and visitors typically ranging from tool suppliers to practicing locksmiths, specialists such as heritage and auto locksmiths, manufacturers and suppliers plus associated companies. Previous exhibitions have seen visitors come from as far afield as Australia, China, continental Europe and the USA. Abloy, Mul-T-Lock and Yale, with ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions have been announced as official sponsors.

Dr Steffan George, pictured, development director for the MLA said: “This is the 17th time that the MLA has hosted the Expo. We are thrilled to see it grow year-on-year, as locksmith and security companies from around the world come together and take the opportunity to showcase their products and services, network, share knowledge and make new contacts. We’re really looking forward to the event, which has become one of the most anticipated events in the locksmithing calendar.”

Delegates at the MLA Expo 2013 will also be able to enter a prize draw, with the top prize of a holiday in Las Vegas. For more about how to exhibit at MLA Expo, call 01327 262 255 or email [email protected]
