Karting for charity

by Mark Rowe

‘Team GJD’ from the detector product company is going to battle it out over a 1200m karting circuit for six hours, to help raise money for Down Syndrome Extra 21 charity (DSE21). This race at Buckmore Park in Kent on Saturday, May 28, is the main annual fund raiser for DSE21 .

As in previous years, GJD is paying the entrance fee of £420 per team and hope to raise a further £1000 in sponsorship for DSE21, which is completely managed by volunteers consisting of parents, carers and people with Down Syndrome. The charity relies on money donated or raised through fund-raising events.

Greg Stuttle, Business Development Manager at GJD is one of the drivers taking part . He said: “It is a great day that combines both fund-raising for a worthy charity as well as being a fantastic team building event. In previous years the race has raised over £10,000 for DSE21 and it is very satisfying to play a part in contributing towards the final total”.

So far the firm has raised £241. To support DSE21 you can donate through JustGiving: https://www.justgiving.com/teamgjd2016. And you can find out about DSE21 through conferences, workshops, newsletters and www.extra21.org.uk.
