ISO 14001 accreditation for factory

by Mark Rowe

ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY, the door and physical security product company, has been awarded ISO 14001 accreditation at its Lisburn factory, pictured, in Northern Ireland.

ISO 14001 is a framework for environmental management best practice to support organisations in minimising pollution, reducing environmental footprint, conforming to legislation and developing their business in a sustainable manner.

Stephen Crymble, Health and Safety Environmental Manager of ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, said: “We are proud that our manufacturing site in Lisburn has been accredited to ISO 14001. The accreditation not only proves our environmental manufacturing credentials, it also demonstrates our ongoing commitment to improve our performance in the years to come. Clients and end-users are becoming more aware of sustainability and the ways in which products are manufactured, and this means the industry can’t afford to operate with a ‘business as usual’ mentality. Manufacturers must commit to improvements if they are to compete in a more Environmentally conscious business environment.”

Third-party assessment will continue, and certification to ISO 14001 will be monitored at the site, to ensure compliance to the standard.
