Physical Security

Field switch

by Mark Rowe

Tungsten, from the perimeter intruder detection product company Senstar, is a ruggedised, managed field switch with embedded, patented technology, the Canadian firm says. Their product, pictured, learns and monitors the integrity of copper and fibre cable infrastructure, the authorised connected devices with their network location and analyses the network traffic flow.

Anomalies equating to alterations in the physical network infrastructure, unauthorised devices connecting to or accessing the network, or changes in the characteristics of the network traffic flow are presented as specified alarm events to your selected control interface. That may be Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) software, security information and event management (SIEM) or other system.

As well as delivery of alarm event notification, each network port can be programmed to automatically isolate and prevent data flow. This off the shelf device offers cyber protection for physical security systems on IP networks, the makers add. Visit http://senstar.com.

The company’s fence and buried sensors link alarm monitoring to CCTV and access control, for borders, prisons, transport and utilities among other applications.
