Double for GJD

by Mark Rowe

The detector manufacturer GJD reports that the company won twice at the British Security Industry Association’s awards, presented at the trade association’s annual luncheon in London Covent Garden’s Grand Connaught Rooms on Wednesday, July 12.

The awards reward the contributions made by UK security people, as well as wider commitments of member companies promoting the UK security industry’s reputation. GJD was presented with a special commendation in the ‘International Partnership’ category for one of its D-TECT Laser projects at an international airport. The D-TECT Laser detector range helped to secure a gap above a glass wall in the arrivals area, which in turn stopped people passing items through the gap before entering security. The client was so impressed with the product, they have now fitted more lasers in other areas.

Greg Stuttle, GJD’s Business Development Manager is pictured left with BSIA chief James Kelly. Greg said: “We are delighted to see that our work in the export market has been recognised. The commendation in the International Partnership Award Category award has highlighted GJD’s D-TECT Laser detector range, showing an example of a high-end install at an international airport. It showcases the highest levels of laser precision for accurate and reliable intrusion detection.”

GJD was also presented with the ‘Chairman’s Contribution to Export’ award. The association chairman Dirk Wilson presented the award to mark GJD’s success in export trade. When it came to judging, the BSIA said: “The calibre of nominations the BSIA received was extremely high and scoring was particularly close at the top, so the GJD team should be really proud of their achievements.”

GJD also recently gained the Queens Award for Enterprise for International Trade 2017, the UK accolade for international business success.

Ana Maria Sagra-Smith, GJD’s Sales and Marketing Director added: “It is a great honour to be presented with two BSIA awards. The awards represent a fantastic achievement for the whole team at GJD and it will further ensure our respected position within the security industry both in the UK and worldwide”.

The event also marked the association’s 50th anniversary. Visit www.bsia.co.uk.
