Adams Rite, part of ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, has worked with HW Architectural (HWA), to produce a doorset suitable for tough use in buildings, having been certified to the British Standard PAS 24.
The testing, in the ASSA ABLOY UKAS-accredited test lab, provided the benchmarks to show the doorset offers ‘Enhanced Security’, and thus can withstand sustained aggressive usage within social housing and public buildings.
Fitted with Adams Rite’s innovative anti-snap cylinder, HWA’s doorset can now meet with the growing preference among those specifying for social housing and public buildings – such as hospitals and schools –certified to PAS 24.
Having undergone timed manual attacking methods, hard and soft body impact tests, and mechanical load testing to its hinges and locking points to be certified to PAS24, the doorset also fulfills the requirements under the Police Preferred Specification scheme, Secured by Design.
Gareth Dobson, Associate Director for Brighouse, West Yorkshire-based HW Architectural, attended the tests. Gareth said: “With crime at the forefront of many specifers’ minds given the costly implications of a break-in, security has become a crucial consideration in the purchasing process. Working together with Adams Rite, we have updated and improved a doorset which has always proven popular on retail and commercial builds, and tested it against the harsh conditions in social housing and public buildings, in order to better serve our customers’ needs.”
