Doorset range

by Mark Rowe

Adams Rite, part of ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, reports that it has worked with Kestrel Aluminium Systems to produce aluminium single and double doorsets. The companies say the products are thermally efficient and suitable for commercial projects, tested to the UK security standard PAS24.

Using the Adams Rite Sentinel M commercial multi-point lock including the new three-star security rated cylinder platform, the doorsets were fully tested to PAS24.

The testing was in the ASSA ABLOY UKAS accredited lab. The doorsets resisted all PAS24 attacks having undergone timed manual attack methods, hard and soft body impact tests, and mechanical load testing of 4500N at each locking point without component failure or opening.

Mike Cresswell, Technical Manager at Kestrel Aluminium Systems, said: “We’ve manufactured this doorset in line with the changes to Building Regulation Document L due to come into force in April. This particular doorset is proven to have low rate of heat loss through the material, ensuring the door is energy efficient in keeping with the Building Regulations relating to the conservation of fuel and power. As the new doorset will be installed in commercial buildings, we needed to ensure we fitted hardware that would be resistant to the latest methods of attack. We now feel confident the doorset will not only conserve heat, but will also adequately protect the occupants and assets in a range of commercial projects.”

And Tim Almond, Business Development Manager for ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, said: “Sentinel M provided the level of security needed for the doorset to be tested to PAS24, also allowing for quick and easy use due to single key operation making it ideal for installation in public spaces such as office blocks and a practical solution for caretakers who need to save time.”
