Door test

by Mark Rowe

Trimec, part of ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, has tested its V-Lock within an electronic access control security door to security standard PAS24. Working with Focus Windows Limited, the resilient ES8000 V-Lock was integrated in the doorset, offering a fail-open motor locking mechanism, suitable the makers claim for use in secure areas, such as cash offices or secure health units.

The company says that the testing in the ASSA ABLOY UKAS accredited test lab provided the benchmarks to show the doorset has the capability to withstand sustained usage within a variety of environments, including education, commercial and retail. Having undergone timed manual attack, hard and soft body impact tests, and static load testing of 4500N at each locking point, the doorset was tested to PAS24.

James Davies, Focus Windows Limited said: “As the new doorset will be installed in social housing and commercial buildings, we needed to ensure the hardware we fitted would be resistant to the latest methods of attack. The V-Lock has proved to be durable and can continue to perform when subjected to sustained attack, making it a reliable and resilient security solution for us.” And Tim Almond, Business Development Manager for ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions said: “The ES8000 electromechanical V-Lock provided the level of security needed for the doorset to be tested to PAS24, also allowing for misalignment.”
