Door closers

by Mark Rowe

UNION, part of Security Solutions, a division of ASSA ABLOY UK, is offering its Retro3 door closers for retrofit projects. The Retro3 closers use the same dimensions and footprint as the Briton 2003 range. This makes the product suitable the makers claim for use on private and public sector retrofit projects.

The door closers are non-handed & can be mounted on the hinge or non-hinge side of the door and, unlike competitor models, can be mounted in applications 1, 61 and 66 (parallel arm or push-side door mounted). This reduces the need for planning and enables installers to complete jobs faster and ensure that fire compliance is upheld, even if the original product did not meet legislation, the makers say.

The door closers have thermodynamic valves to accommodate temperature fluctuations and are adjustable to allow the door to be tailored for customer or site requirements. This also compensates for the general wear and tear of the door and other ironmongery components, the company adds.

David Hindle, Head of Door Closer Sales at ASSA ABLOY UK, said: “UNION’s Retro3 is ideal for use when retro fitting schools, hospitals and offices, in most cases there is no need to apply a template and no alteration will be required to the door or frame, saving time and money when replacing an equivalent competitor product. We have been a major player in door closers worldwide for many years and Retro3 is an example of our broad range of reliable door closers at competitive prices. Both installers and users can be confident that Retro3 will outperform equivalent products during installation and use. Over the years, UNION’s product innovation has been led by customer feedback that has driven convenience and quality, showing how UNION is helping installers prepare for any kind of call, from new builds, to emergency repair and retrofit jobs.”

Retro3 is fully certified to BS EN 1154, CE marked and suitable for use on timber fire doors, the firm adds. Visit http://www.assaabloy.co.uk/.
