CPD for architects

by Mark Rowe

Steel fencing manufacturer Zaun Limited has become a RIBA-approved provider of CPD (continuous professional development).

Zaun can deliver to architects the RIBA-assessed seminar Perimeter and Integrated Systems, The Trusted Advisor and give factory and demo area visits at its Wolverhampton head office to help architects meet their annual CPD requirements. And Zaun has joined the RIBA CPD Providers Network, of 500 manufacturers and suppliers who provide RIBA-approved CPD to architects and other specifiers. Those network partners deliver free RIBA-assessed CPD face-to-face in architects’ practices or on factory tours, at RIBA CPD roadshows or online.

CPD is mandatory for RIBA Chartered Architects, and having RIBA approved CPD material available as seminar presentations, articles, videos, factory tours and in other formats is a way to open doors to build relationships, the fencing firm points out. Approved seminars are worth double points to RIBA Chartered Architects.

The Zaun seminar, which can be booked by clicking here, fits within RIBA’s core curriculum subject Designing and Building It: Design, Construction, Technology and Engineering at a general awareness knowledge level. The fence manufacturer must keep the seminar material up-to-date and advise RIBA when it changes any content to conform to new law, guidelines or user needs. RIBA promotes the material on the riba.com website, through its assessed material list and via monthly CPD Showcase e-marketing campaigns.

In an Architects Journal survey of the top 120 architectural practices, 84 per cent said that they use RIBA-approved CPD and 66% of respondents had attended a seminar with a RIBA CPD Providers Network member.
