County hall install

by Mark Rowe

At Leicestershire County Council, Smartair handle sets from Mul-T-Lock have been fitted to a number of office doors within the Chief Executive’s Department.

The Smartair system was the upgrade to change mechanical key locks to what the manufacturers term all-encompassing access control. The council was recommended Smartair by Morgan’s Locksmiths due to its ability to manage individual’s access rights.

A mix of Smartair handle sets and wall readers have been installed in a number of offices, all controlled via a PC within the members’ secretariat of the chief executive’s department. A council officer said: “The Mul-T-Lock Smartair system appealed because of its ease to set up users and manage their access rights.”

Mul-T-Lock describes its Smartair as a secure all-in-one access control solution that reduces the cost and inconvenience associated with traditional ‘hard wired’ access control systems.

Shane Hall of Morgan’s Locksmiths added: “Smartair’s real advantage over its competition is how easy it is to install, both the handles and wall reader, and its ability to encompass all the convenience and benefits of access control in one solution. Together with its smart design there is also no compromise on security, all important aspects for Leicestershire County Council.”

Once the initial programming is completed, cards or fobs can be added or removed as required. Time zones can also be set. An audit trail is available from the door handle or user card to make sure access is monitored.

Steve Ross, Managing Director of Mul-T-Lock added: “The features of Smartair make it a simple and intelligent way for locksmiths to upgrade the security level of any premises, whilst also solving key management issues. The system is a true “out of the box” stylish solution, designed for purpose, that can be up and running in a matter of minutes, fully programmed and ready to secure offices.”
