Anti-terrorist bollard

by Mark Rowe

FAAC has launched the J355HA M30‐P1 retractable bollard. The Basingstoke-based makers say that it’s designed for perimeter security applications for the protection of sensitive areas such as airports, embassies and banks.

The bollard has been tested in accordance with ASTM F2656 ‐ 07 Standard Test Method for Vehicle Crash Testing of Perimeter Barriers and ranked with the highest class (P1). This indicates that it can stop a truck of up to 6800kg, travelling at a speed of 50km/h in less than 1m. There is also an EFO (Emergency Fast Operation) version of the bollard with a rising speed of 1.5 seconds.

The bollard can be retracted and the painted steel version can be customised in colour, reducing the visual impact of the bollard on the surrounds. Built in LED lights increase visibility, improving safety particularly as the bollard rises. Hydraulic locking is for the bollard to stay in an upright position in the event of power failure.

A product manual is available to download from the website www.faac.co.uk under the barriers, bollards and parking systems product section.

The bollard is in production and available to order, allowing four weeks for delivery.
