Allegion at Hotel Show 2017

by Mark Rowe

The physical security product manufacturer Allegion is launching a new CISA BLE eKEY for the UK market at the Independent Hotel Show on October 17 and 18 at London Olympia. The makers say it’s a product that’s designed to bring extra revenue for its hotel users.

The CISA BLE eKEY will allow guests to unlock their rooms by using enabled smartphones as mobile credentials. A guests can control their stay, including booking the hotel and checking in and out, with the dedicated guest app [gestgid]. The eKEY encourages direct booking, and thus cost savings. It’s suggested to reduce the dependency and cost of online booking agents, as well as improve the probability of repeat bookings. This in turn provides higher margins for a hotelier.

Partnering with BHM Media Solutions GmbH, specialists for digital sales and service, Allegion have designed a basic package that will allow guests to order room service, access directories and provide feedback through the [gestgid] app. More advanced packages will give the CISA BLE eKEY functionality, and besides hotels can push notifications to the guests’ smartphones and alert them to hotel offers.

Trevor Ball, area sales manager for CISA Hospitality for Allegion UK, said: “More and more we are seeing hotel guests looking for convenience and personalised services. The CISA BLE eKEY is a natural extension to our CISA hospitality portfolio. Guests no longer have to queue at front desks for room keys and check in, and they can find out all they need to know about a hotel straight from their fingertips, when they want and where they want. By providing customers with the convenience of using the CISA BLE eKEY and gestgid app, the hotelier can start to find even more data about their guests, engage before and after the stay and then offer personalised services through the technology.”

Allegion will bring a full suite of door hardware and showcase other brands at the show. Other hotel products from the CISA family to be displayed inclulde CISA eGO, eSIGNO and eFLEXO contactless locks and credentials. Allegion’s specialist brand in sliding door solutions, Brio, will also be on display, as well as the UK brand for door closer and door furniture, Briton.
