VIVOTEK becomes full member of ONVIF

by Mark Rowe

The Taiwanese CCTV manufacturer VIVOTEK reports full membership in ONVIF.

Briefly, ONVIF is an US-based industry forum promoting and developing global standards for the interfacing of IP-based security products. VIVOTEK adds that it is able to be involved in the development of global standards for the interface of network video products.

Established in 2008, ONVIF looks to the standardization of communication and inter-operability between network-enabled security devices. Some 468 members of ONVIF, include 21 full members, 20 contributing members and 427 user members. With the adoption of an open standard, IP-based security products from member companies are able to be compatible with each other, aiding integration of the products.

Steve Ma, Executive VP at VIVOTEK, said: “VIVOTEK, in the past decade, has committed to providing global partners and customers with industry leading and high quality products and solutions for meeting diversified demands. With the adoption of an open standard like ONVIF, the value, eligibility and reliability of VIVOTEK’s IP-based surveillance products are further enhanced, driving future business growth. Bearing in mind the importance and power of a common and open standard, VIVOTEK applied for a full membership within ONVIF. Via multiple working groups and meetings for standards establishment with other full ONVIF members, VIVOTEK believes that it will be able to cast greater influence over standards establishment, creating a better industry and safer world together.”
