Video system design tool

by Mark Rowe

VIVOTEK has launched an IP Video System Design Tool, which allows system designers to simulate the coverage of any of the Taiwanese company’s network cameras in 2D and 3D.

This free tool helps designers save time when determining the ideal position for a network camera. The developers point to four features.

The tool comes with detailed specifications of all the product company’s network cameras. System designers can more accurately design using the tool’s lens focal-length and viewing-angle calculator. Thanks to its synchronizing feature, the latest camera information can be updated manually or automatically.

The tool can estimate bandwidth and storage requirements to help shape the network video systems for any number of network cameras, video servers and delivers an overview of the system deployment for surveillance scenarios.

Thanks to the intuitive interface and using 2D and 3D modeling, system designers can check the field of view of each camera and thus reduce blind-spots and coverage gaps. The clarity and accuracy of this simulation mean that users can foresee any issues and avoid problems during or after installation.

And to develop an even more realistic system plan, the tool allows system designers to upload floor plan images in JPEG, JPG, BMP format and PDF background image. Project details can be exported to PDF.

The tool can be accessed from VIVOTEK’s website; visit http://www.vivotek.com/ip-video-system-design-tool/#views:view=jplist-grid-view.

It supports the following Operating Systems: Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP SP2. For Mac users, install Parallels Desktop in advance. Visit www.vivotek.com.
