The IP video product company  DVTel has launched TruWitness, a mobile video application that turns mobile smartphones into IP cameras that stream video into the company’s Latitude Video Management System.

TruWitness turns mobile phones into real-time networked video cameras. Users are able to tap into the their smart devices to stream, record, analyse, review and export video.  Available with the company’s Latitude 6.2 VMS, the product operates over WiFi, 3G/4G and LTE networks. It extends the coverage of surveillance networks to reach blind spots and other areas that traditional cameras cannot reach, and enables the relocation of cameras in real time, as the needs arises, according to the company. Yoav Stern, President and CEO of DVTel, says: “TruWitness is the first mobile application of its kind in the surveillance market. It allows responders to leverage smart devices to provide real-time visual reports of an incident, and stream the video and data to a central command centre for on-the-spot decision making, dispatching and resolution in a timely manner. TruWitness enhances situational awareness by putting a live camera on the scene to provide video evidence of a situation as it occurs, helping response teams decide what is needed, as the event evolves.”

TruWitness is available to existing and new Latitude 6.2 users free. It is supported on Android-based smart phones running on OS version 2.2 and above.
