by Mark Rowe

New from Lantech, the industrial and IP networks product company, is a series of unmanaged switches for use in vehicles. Pictured is the IPES-0008B device that runs on Power over Ethernet (PoE). The product supports the IEEE802.3at/af standard and can feed power at up to 30Watts per port. The switches come with the E-marking certificate to show reliability when subject to vibrations as in buses and lorries; and extended working temperatures of minus 40 to 75 degrees C, again, as may be required in vehicles. According to the manufacturer the switches are also suitable for industrial use, where the power source is limited with 12V or 24V, but users still want IP or Voice over IP (VoIP) applications.

They also offer protection from damage by high voltage, when a vehicles starts, the makers add. Visit http://www.lantechcom.tw/.
