New from Tyco Security Products, part of Johnson Controls, are two new IP cameras – a 2MP PTZ and 12MP Fisheye camera – in its Illustra IP camera line.

The new Illustra Flex 2MP PTZ has a 20x optical zoom with continuous auto-focus plus 10x digital zoom, providing video surveillance over long distances the makers say. This PTZ can be deployed in a variety of applications the company says due to its intrinsic WDR (wide dynamic range), and auto-defog functions. The product eliminates the need for separate power supplies, as the indoor and outdoor models can be powered though PoE, the firm says. The illustra Flex PTZ also uses the same outdoor brackets as the American Dynamics SpeedDomes, giving customers a migration path. The illustra Flex 2MP PTZ comes with an IK10 vandal resistance rating and a choice of indoor or outdoor (pictured) models.
The new Illustra Pro 12MP Fisheye can be mounted on a wall or ceiling, giving views of a large area of interest in an orientation of fisheye 360 degree or panoramic 180 degree, making it suitable the manufacturers say for shops, reception areas and lobbies. Low light and other lighting conditions are handled by the True Day / Night nature of the camera, which includes built-in infra-red, and WDR. The camera comes with IK10 vandal resistance and IP66 outdoor ratings.

The ONVIF conformant Illustra Pro 12MP Fisheye camera is suited the company adds to a variety of network video recorders (NVRs) and features onboard dewarping and client side dewarping. With PoE compatiblility, there is no separate power supply needed at install. As for viewing video users have fixed views and fluid electronic PTZ actions creating even transitions between pan, tilt, and zoom movements. Stuart Bettle, Video Product Marketing Manager, EMEA, Tyco Security Products, said: “We are always cognizant of our customers’ need for excellent video quality while keeping a careful eye on cost. Both new Illustra cameras provide multiple streams of H.264 and MJPEG video compression, supporting bitrate control. This provides excellent image clarity while efficiently managing bandwidth.”
